OSS Solid Waste District has been dedicated to advancing sustainable waste management practices across Ottawa, Sandusky, and Seneca counties for over two decades. Our mission focuses on ensuring quality waste stream management while fostering long-term positive habits in recycling, reducing, reusing, and purchasing recycled products. We provide comprehensive programs such as special collection events for appliances, household hazardous waste, lead acid batteries, and tires, alongside community-driven initiatives like the DIY Community Cleanup Kit and Medication Take Back Program. Our team offers free educational workshops, including adult and youth programs, to promote environmental awareness. With competitive grant funding and compost workshops, we empower residents to adopt eco-friendly practices. Our services extend to business and industry sectors through the Commodities Exchange and Ohio EPA grants, ensuring tailored solutions for diverse needs. Our dedicated education office in Port Clinton delivers targeted outreach, including the Myrtle The Recycling Turtle program, to instill sustainable habits in younger generations. By organizing annual events like the Pumpkin Compost Drop-Off and Upcycled Ornaments initiative, we create engaging opportunities for residents to participate in waste reduction.
